John Cook Engraving

Intaglio Prints

During my time studying in Florence Italy I gained a love of historical plate engraving. This type of engraving dates back to the early  16th century. Using the original hand push burin techniques I have tried to combine designs both original and contempory. I have also combined various techniques of printmaking to enhance the plates overal effect.  These prints are very limited in number as I print everyone myself on heavy cotton paper. I sequentially number each print with number 1 in my private collection.  If you see a print you like, the next stage is to contact me. I can then give you more information on each print available. ie I have some prints printed on difference colour / quality and size of paper. We can also discuss the shipping option.

This is a new project Im working on. Its a Victorian style oval boarder in brass. This is around 18 hours of work so far as there is a lot of detail. I hope to  add a centre monogram  later.  New Paragraph

I was honoured to be commissioned to make a leaving award to the Chairman of Harmonica UK. I made the silver plated harmonica , the wooden plinth and the inscription plate.

I just finished a few small brass money clips this week. Various styles used in these designs from bright cut to American scrolls.

Hi john
Just wanted to say a huge thankyou for the beautiful engraving that you done on my grandads ornamental penknife .The detail of the scroll work is absolutely breathtakingly .The craftsmanship is incredible and in this day and age of mass produced manufacturing it is a pleasure to find someone that still has the talent and skills to do this type engraving by hand. I look forward sending you more pieces to engrave for me. Truly thankfully.
